When you’re in a relationship that no longer serves you, what do you do? You break up and start over again. So, if you’re standing in your own way, you may need to break up with yourself before you can create your future self.

And if there always seem to be an insurmountable obstacle in your way preventing you from creating the person you want to become, or achieving your desired goal, maybe that obstacle is you and it might be time to break up with yourself and start over with a new you.

First letting go of the labels you put on yourself about who you are and what you can and can’t do.
Then create a clear picture of your future self.
And finally, start living as your future self now.

When the brain perceives scarcity or deprivation, it is hardwired to trigger your starvation mechanism, which forces you to gain weight. And did you know that dieting often unintentionally triggers the brains evolutionary scarcity mechanism to collect and store food, leading to weight gain?

Did you know that social behaviors are contagious? That’s right. We become more like the people we hang around all the time, because their habits and behaviors will influence our habits and behaviors.
And over time, behaviors practiced repeatedly become new habits! And more importantly, behaviors practiced unconsciously WILL become habits that reside in the subconscious mind, which are terribly difficult to break.
In this episode, we will explore the subtle ways in which our behaviors are influenced by those we spend the most time with, and how those behaviors eventually become our habits, whether we are aware of them or not.
We will also discuss the “social contagion” research stemming from the analysis of 32-years’ worth of data from the popular Framingham research project and its conclusions and implications about how our social networks affect out health and lifestyle.
